SOUTH AFRICA DEPLOYS ARMY TO QUELL XENOPHOBIA

South African Defence Minister announced on Tuesday that South African army has been deployed to areas that remain volatile after a spate of attacks against immigrants.
Xenophobic attacks began in parts of coastal city of Durban about three weeks ago and quickly spread to Johannesburg, South Africa's commercial capital.
South African Defence Minister said,
"Now we are deploying (army) because there is an emergency." "Police have struggled to contain the mobs who have been attacking foreigners from Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique and other African countries in both the economic capital Johannesburg and in the port city of Durban"
The recent attacks against foreign immigrants brings back memory of xenophobic attack of 2008 in which 62 people were killed.
The recent attacks have affected mainly citizens from Zimbabwe, Malawi and Mozambique according to statement from the aid group, Doctors Without Borders.
