Hello FI readers and style lovers, welcome back!
I bet you rocked your week? I did too. In a stylishly fabulous way I must say, ;). lol.
The it cities of London, New York, Milan (ongoing) took in all the runway shows for fashion week and they survived of course. Duh, they always do, LOL. Newbies and sartorial stars show off their best street style looks. Apps like Instagram and Twitter are bursting at the seams with pictures of favorite runway looks, street styles and celebrity sightings. Fashion insiders and bloggers make connections with PR companies and brands as well as share their fashion week diaries during and afterwards. It’s the most
Often times getting into the most coveted shows is by invite only. No invite, no access unless you just graduated from the world’s most renowned gate crashing school in which case I need lessons, hehe. Like I said in my post last week here, while it’s not New York, London, Milan or Paris, I did get officially invited to San Francisco Fashion week. Of course I rsvp’d a yes, great networking opportunity that I didn’t want to miss out on. And of course an opportunity to look fabulous, fabulous enough to stand out. Making a fashion statement never hurt anyone.
I sifted through rack after rack in my closet in search of what to wear to meet up with some of the most fiercely fabulous style setters. A huge stack of rejected options grew by the second. Not this color. Too big. A little tight. Too short. Over the top. Don’t like it anymore. Mmmm, maybe. Mmm, heck no. Just right. I bet Goldilocks’ lines too hot, too cold, too hard, too soft, too big, too small, just right, comes to mind, hehe.
My final choice? This break out from the crowd black gown that unapologetically redefined a bold style. It boasted a mini lace dress and an outer coat with layers of tulle for volume. It looked sexy and felt super easy breezy. Did everyone love it? You bet! I had never been asked ‘Who are you wearing?' that many times in one night. I paired it with a pair of spiked heels and an embellished black clutch to attend the opening party at the Hue Night club in San Francisco. Magical night to say the least.
I met a lot of wonderful people and of course if you forgot how important social media was in connecting people, the question 'What's your Instagram handle' one of the two most asked questions of the night jolted you back to reality. I followed and was followed on Insta. Twitter too. And Snapchat. Facebook not so much, understandably so as a lot of people are no longer that much into Facebook. Everyone is playing on Instagram.
It was so good, so cool, and so fun to hang out with other SF based bloggers. Even cooler to be a featured blogger repping Fashion Bloggers Connect. Big shout out to all the other fabulous bloggers that were featured alongside me. Looking forward to our upcoming meet ups.
All in all, it was a great but very tiring week. I worked as a teacher in the morning, and as a style enthusiast in the evening, haha. Still have the event High Fashion Showcase / Closing Party to attend on Sunday before it's all done. Sad that it's winding down but happy to catch some rest.
