So this weekend was a busy one! You may have noticed how slow blogging got over the past few days. The reason for this was I officially moved out of my house and into my new 'temporary' digs and then into my second load of 'temporary' digs. Which meant stay in three houses over three days - not fun! I was surprised at how I didn't feel anything for the house when I left. Normally, I am the last out and I am quite emotional about leaving.
I just feel nothing for the place. I hated my room, I hated the mould problem and I hated how cramped I was. I felt like I was shoved in there. It was after a quick breakfast in Jungle Cafe that things really got quite busy! There wasn't that much stuff - when I left Dublin, there were bags upon bags upon bags and it took all morning to get me out. This time - I was gone in a matter of half an hour. This included giving the floor a quick clean and a hoover. I had been complaining about the lack of shopping in Galway and it was reflected in the lack of bags!!!
So after moving day - my sister and I had to head to Dublin for Lady Gaga. I had won two free tickets to the gig and I decided to bring her with me. I have never been to a stadium gig like this before. I have been in stadiums but never at one for any particular reason. First off - a simple reason for this is that I suffer from vertigo and places like this upset my balance.
True to form - the tickets were for a seat above the gig and I had to be helped into my seat after my feet would not move. I caught sight of the distance down and just froze. As the nice gentleman in security helped me to my seat, I caught sight of the rest of security laughing at me....oh well....I was happy. I just prayed I wouldn't need to use the loo or fancy chips before the end of the gig. My sister however doesn't have these worries. She got up, walked, climbed and stood with no bother to her. I on the other hand could only stand if I could hug the back of my chair.....
......note to self, when tickets say, not suitable for vertigo....they mean it.....
So what of the gig? It was impressively large as an operation. Gaga's music is really not my thing but at least I knew some of the songs from them being over played. I was a bit annoyed at the two girls beside me who, may have never left the house before, they kept screaming as her perfume adverts were played every five minutes. At one point an advert for 02 was played and one of them let out the most bloodcurling, toe clenching, gut ripping scream. To be fair, even she looked embarrassed...
I would say that if you like her music, this is a great gig to be at. It was slow to fill up and the stadium was only two thirds full by the end of the gig. She really did put on a show and she was great with her fans. She talked to them, interacted, sent a couple backstage and talked about their posters. At point she grabbed a young guy and pulled him on the back of her bike to sing a ballad with her. So I can respect someone who looks after her fans like that.
With the gig over at 10.15 and our bus not due to go until 11.45 - we headed into Temple Bar to catch a drink at Garage bar before we headed home. Dublin was packed and I really missed it. Times like that I miss. I didn't really feel connected to Galway like I did with Dublin and I missed living there everyday.
I will miss all the memories I have built in each city. I spent a fair few years in Cork, five years in Limerick, two in Dublin and now one in Galway. Each city has different people, different memories and different places for me. Some still remain but some are gone. It makes me sad to think that I wont be able to visit Garage bar or run down the road to Jungle Cafe or visit my friend's balcony anymore. Hopefully, the memories that are in the past will be just as good as the memories I am gaining....
....gotta go now.....close to tears......
